5 Reasons You Should Workout at home

When it comes to working out, you are more likely to find a gym rat, a cross fitter, or a powerlifter or any of these categories that people choose to identify with. However, for a normal man or a woman, it’s neither their interest nor do they have the time to do so.

Whether your goal is to go hard “David Goggins” style, or just find a consistent and structured program where you get your daily activity done, it is not necessary that it happens only in the gym. And that’s why home workouts are the best, and here are some reasons why:

Convenient and Flexible

First off, the most obvious thing. Working out at home means you can work out at any time or place you want. At home or park, you can follow a set routine anywhere, according to your convenience.

But doesn’t that mean that getting to your goal gets longer and more difficult in the long run? No. You have to create your workout routines for your specific goals. It’s not the machines in the gym that give you the “weight loss” or the “gains”, it is the program.

Effectiveness over equipment

The best thing about working out at home is that you don’t need a lot of equipment for the workout routines. The effectiveness of your program is the most important aspect. While equipment is great in the gym, compared to having minimal dumbbells and TheraBand, it is more than enough to push yourself to your utmost.

You won't require just one pair of dumbbells, either 7.5kg or 10kg. You could also go for the adjustable dumbbells, as you end up saving more in the long run.

Variety and creativity

Home workouts can be very creative once you put your mind to it. You can use the lack of machines to think creatively and challenge yourself. With a pair of dumbbells, you can easily accomplish most of the workouts, with added stability and mobility benefits.

Isometric holds, pause reps, HIIT, and circuit training - you can create a workout that is functional and always interesting.

Motivation and focus

When you work out at home, you remove the distracting variables that you might find at the gym or the park. Not that it implies that gym-goers are always distracted and can't focus, but it does make it easy to focus at home.

Making small progress, and keeping track of all your strength growth, will help you motivate yourself. Seeing the improvement in your mobility, strength and metabolism will affect your mood in a positive direction and allow focus on other daily activities.

Privacy and comfort

Another benefit of working out at home is that you have the privacy and comfort to do your workouts without being judged, embarrassed, or distracted by others. You don’t have to worry about what you wear, how you look, or how you perform.

You can set your own pace and intensity, without feeling pressured or intimidated by others who may be stronger, faster, or more experienced than you. You can also have access to your own snacks, drinks, or supplements, without having to pay extra or carry them with you.

Conclusion

Working out at home requires the accountability to do your workouts consistently. You don’t have any excuses or reasons to skip or postpone your workouts and you can do your workouts anytime you want. The only thing stopping you from achieving your desired goal of a healthy lifestyle is your honesty and discipline to follow your own rules.
